The PNP Bandwagon!

"Everybody jump on socialism Train " (Socialism Train, The Ethiopians)

In 1971, the PNP set up an incredible political tour with the help of Clancy Eccles. The PNP bandwagon featured the top artists of the time, including Bob Marley & the Wailers, Ken Boothe, Max Romeo, Delroy Wilson, Junior Byles, the Gaylads etc. Inner Circle was the backing band, and the PNP bandwagon played in all Jamaican parishes! The tour lasted several months, and Michael 'Joshua' Manley himself (the candidate for the PNP) showed up sometimes to cheer up the crow with the rod of correction. This proved a very efficient idea, and it was probably the best reggae line-up... ever!

Learn more about this incredible story in REGGAE AND POLITICS IN THE 1970s (DREAD Editions). You can still pre-order your copy. The book will be with us in the next few days.
