Scientist at Studio 1, an incredible picture!

Scientist is one of the greatest Jamaican Dub Masters. He's very famous for the Dubs he mixed while at Tubby's in the late 1970s. When we spoke about his experience for King Tubby- The Dub Master (DREAD Editions), he mentioned the fact that he was also involved with Coxsone Dodd, at Studio One, at the time. "Coxsone thought I was Tubby's spy," he laughed. As the book shows, there was tension between Coxsone and Tubby.

Scientist says he's responsible for a lot of the famous overdubs that came out of the studio at the time, and that he mixed Armagedion Time (Willi Wiliams) or some Johnny Osbourne's recordings. He has recently posted this incredible picture on his facebook account, showing him sitting next to Coxsone himself inside Studio One!

"This is a very old photo sent to me by the one and only Carol Dodd My Friend .This was a session @ Studio One 13 Brenford Road Kingston Jamaica . With the one and only Mr. Clement Dodd , Bim Bim and my self Overton Brown .As I remember , this session could have been around the time with WILLIE WILLIAMS - Armagedeon Time , Freddie McGregor - Wine of Violence , Sugar Minott Mr. DC , RANKING MICHIGAN & GENERAL SMILEY - Rub A Dub Style , Johnny Osbourne-Rub A Dub Party , Lone Ranger - Love Bump , the late Judah Eskender danger in your eyes RIP . These records was done about the same time as the photo I recorded all of these artists @ Studio One 13 Brenford Road Kingston Jamaica."

This is a very rare and valuable document as we've never seen any other picture of Scientist at Studio One!

Scientist est l'un des plus grands Dub Masters jamaïcains, aujourd'hui reconnu pour avoir mixé nombre de Dubs somptueux au studio de King Tubby à la fin des années 70. Lorsque nous le contactions pour l'écriture du livre King Tubby - the Dub Master (DREAD Editions), il confirmait avoir aussi travaillé pour Coxsone Dodd, à Studio One, à la même période. "Coxsone pensait que je l'espionnais pour le compte de Tubby," rigole-t-il. Il est vrai que les relations entre les deux hommes n'étaient pas idéales.

Scientist dit avoir signé nombre des célèbres riddims "overdubbés" (avec des ajouts sonores un peu grossiers, en mode rub-a-dub) sortis de Studio One à l'époque. Il dit aussi avoir mixé Armagedion Time de Willi Williams et plusieurs titres de Johnny Osbourne. Il vient de poster, sur son compte Facebook, cette superbe photo inédite le montrant aux côtés de Coxsone à Studio One! Il explique qu'elle lui a été envoyée par Carol Dodd, la fille de Coxsone,

Il s'agit d'un document très rare et assez fascinant. Le seul à notre connaissance montrant Scientist à Studio One.
